Dimora degli Affreschi… An entire Florentine palazzo transformed
BARONE ACHILLE
Our Florence palazzo restoration has finally reached fruition near the banks of the Arno in the thriving district of Santa Croce
Promising a truly pampering Florentine experience and spanning the entire 5 storeys of the handsome 19th-century Palazzo Fossi beside the art-filled Horne Museum on the ancient Via dei Benci, this massively ambitious project is now opening its doors to its 10 seriously sumptuous Dimora Italia Collection apartments.
Sensitively reconfigured over a 3-year period by a highly skilled team of experts with a deep understanding and appreciation of the palazzo’s historic fabric, the apartments all follow a contemporary Florentine aesthetic and are primed to become our flagship properties within the top-tier rentals market.
A treasury of exceptional city-centre bases radiating positive energy and collectively named Dimora degli Affreschi (Residence of the Frescos), its accommodation ranges from a spectacular 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment showcasing towering ceilings cloaked in a vivid expanse of classical frescos, through to a stylishly attired 3 bedroom / 4 bathroom duplex with roof timbers and a pair of terraces peacefully situated to the rear, while the entirely bespoke interiors have been curated by ArchFlorence, the brilliantly gifted architectural designers we’ve partnered over the past 10+ years.
Centrally located within a stone’s throw of the Uffizi Gallery and conveniently close to – yet not overwhelmed by – an array of small shops, cafes and restaurants, Dimora degli Affreschi can host up to 56 guests when reserved for exclusive use, while all pristine spaces within have been meticulously prepared for your pleasure.
Boasting top-notch comforts and all the hallmarks of Dimora Italia Collection’s styling including air-conditioning, Wi-Fi connection, custom-made fixtures and delicious decor, the apartments are individually named in honour of the owners’ adored offspring and include the fabulous fresco-filled…
BARONE ACHILLE (SLEEPS 6)
1st Floor – 3 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms
Reached via a few steps up from the main palazzo entrance with stairs and / or lift to the 1st Floor, this ravishing apartment with dazzling frescoes comprises:
An entrance hallway with mirrored cloaks cupboard leading into…
The fabulous (indeed jaw-dropping!) open-plan main living space situated to the front of the palazzo, softly lit and exquisitely presented in chic neutrals and tangerine tones with the most gorgeous wooden chequerboard parquet flooring underfoot, 3 tall shuttered west-facing windows flooding the room with natural light and opening onto a long balcony overlooking Via dei Benci and down towards the Arno, a sitting area with stylish twin sofas, an elegant oval dining suite hosting 6 guests and, lifting your eyes, the most magical frescoed ceiling that’s nothing short of spectacular!
And on either side of the main living space…
A bright and welcoming principal bedroom luxuriously decked out in tangerine and neutrals and furnished with a wardrobe and double bed with bespoke upholstery beneath another sublime fresco set to take your breath away!
An equally opulent 2nd double bedroom in gentle-on-the-eye sage green and tangerine echoing the colours of its own delightful ceiling fresco, with a double bed, walk-in closet and a sparkling en suite bathroom in polished marmorino with marble rain shower
Situated just off the hallway and serving the principal bedroom… a separate large and luxurious bathroom in marmorino and marble with bathtub and rain shower in lustrous ‘honeycomb’ ceramic tiling
Towards the centre of the apartment and overlooking an internal courtyard to one side we find…
A large ‘traditional-contemporary’ kitchen / breakfast room with integrated appliances, botanical wall prints, and a Tuscan farmhouse-style kitchen table seating 8 beneath a delicate ceiling fresco rather less flamboyant than its peers but nevertheless a delightful vision to behold!
A simple guest bathroom (with wash-hand basin, w.c. plus a handy washing machine / dryer in a cupboard to the side)
And completing Barone Achille’s extensive accommodation, to the rear of the apartment…
Tailor-made for relaxation, a restful 3rd double bedroom presented in gentle colours with twin beds, a pair of bespoke mirrored wardrobes and a pristine en suite bathroom in polished marmorino and marble with bathtub and rain shower just to the side

An imposing Florentine palazzo brought up to date with aplomb!... and joining our hugely popular Dimora Nova Terrace nearby in raising our profile in this truly magical Renaissance city.
A gentle walk to the architectural masterpiece that is Florence’s iconic Duomo (but a little more effort is required to reach the top!), and close to the Basilica and sunny Piazza Santa Croce, and to the overwhelmingly spectacular, statue-dominated Piazza della Signoria for a generous helping of people-watching and a dose of Dolce Vita.
A short stroll along the nearby Ponte alle Grazie bridge crossing the Arno to the wonderful Pitti Palace and its treasures, the bucolic Boboli Gardens, and the unmatched city vistas from the Piazzale Michelangelo.
Artisans, markets, cafes, bars and restaurants are woven through the ancient streets (including the much loved ‘La Buchetta’ directly opposite and the rustic ‘Del Fagioli’ just around the corner!), while the handy Conad supermarket close by satisfies self-catering needs, and a nearby car park provides parking if arriving on four wheels.

Sometimes the water for showers was warm, not hot . Perhaps this was due to there being 3 couples.

We were met by Azura on arrival and she walked us through the process and was available and responsive whenever we had any questions. It was as if we had our own concierge service and were very happy with all the recommendations she provided.

The place is sprawling, well appointed, comfortable, clean, like a 5 star luxury European Hotel - but better. Three huge glass French doors line the terrace in the main sitting room. The kitchen had Nespresso machine as well as a coffee machine, and see more
The place is sprawling, well appointed, comfortable, clean, like a 5 star luxury European Hotel - but better. Three huge glass French doors line the terrace in the main sitting room. The kitchen had Nespresso machine as well as a coffee machine, and very well equipped. Location was 1/2 block from a little grocery store, and two perfect breakfast spots. Everything is very walkable! We have already been telling friends and family how wonderful this place was, we were so sad to leave. We would definitely return!!! Thank you for making our Florence trip so Fabulous!
