Description
Ca’ Del Monastero 2
Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero - a fine antique residence comprising 9 superbly restored apartments of varying size (including Ca’ Del Monastero 2 - see its dedicated section below) situated in what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà (one of the oldest in Venice), moments from the Grand Canal in the district of Santa Croce
Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods - indeed a step back in time - the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium size parties or up to 36 guests if taken together.*
No expense has been spared in its recent remodelling…
Carefully co-ordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral colours meld seamlessly against a traditional backdrop of polished red marble and/or traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, while stylish high-spec fittings and attractive finishes, such as textured resin walls and luxurious feature wall coverings, give a fresh and fashionable twist to the building’s ancient framework.
Enhanced by a range of up-to-date facilities as demanded by today’s savvy traveller (including air-conditioning**, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities), the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments are perfectly placed for communing with the true and heart and soul of the city and for visiting all that Venice has to offer while providing all the comforts of modern city living.
Ca’ Del Monastero 2
A spacious and impressive 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment to the rear of the residence with views across to the ‘Salizada’ to the pretty walled rear garden of Venice’s Natural History Museum at the Fondaco Dei Turchi.
Sleeping four and situated on the 1st floor with lift, the apartment comprises an elegant main open-plan sitting/dining room with feature fireplace (not in use), a large L-shaped sofa, a dining suite seating four and offering plenty of room to chill out after a busy day about town.
Just to the side lies the fully-fitted and very nicely finished kitchen/breakfast room with a table for two - ideal for keeping your chef company as they cook up a feast with ingredients from the Rialto - while further along sits a twin bedroom with two single beds (1 a ‘pull-out’) and an up-to-date bathroom with large shower opposite.
The gorgeous master bedroom lies at the apartment’s farthest end - a delightful room with double bed, smartly decked out in soothing colours and with a separate modern bathroom again with large shower.
*Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer seven other apartments within this residence: Ca’ Del Monastero 1,Ca’ Del Monastero 3, Ca’ Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5, Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 8, Ca' Del monastero 9.
Our Comment
Style, creature comforts and history combined, in an area brimming with local flavour.
Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for hassle-free travel around the city.
And so much to see and do right on your doorstep…
Moments to Campo San Giacomo Dell’ Orio - one of Venice’s most charming ‘away from the crowds’ tree-filled squares and home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket and nearby local shops - and a short walk to a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal.
Close to a great variety of cafes, bars and eateries including All’ Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta to name but a few, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo at San Stae (Museum of the History of Fabrics, Costumes and Perfumes) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner Della Regina.
A leisurely stroll to the 14th Century Franciscan Church of the Frari, (home to Canova's extraordinary triangular marble tomb and Titian's legendary masterpiece, the 'Assumption'), the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with its amazing Tintoretto’s, the vast palazzo-lined Campo San Polo plus the culinary delights and buzz of the Rialto

I stayed in Ca' del Monastero with a close friend for three days in late September this year, my friend's first stay, my second in this evocative, beautiful, solidly renovated building in Santa Croce. We loved the security, the spotlessly clean apartment and common spaces, the comfortable, well furnished and well equipped rooms, the lovely outlook from our apartment, the easy walk to the Grand Canal, the local campo, supermarket, bakery, enoteca, the locals dancing tango in the campo on Tuesday evening, all within easy walking to San Marco, Dorsoduro, Castello...and yet away from the heaving crowds. Dreaming of returning soon and afraid my review will encourage too many tourists, the irony of modern day travel.

Thank you very much. We thought the apartment was wonderful and in a good location. The VOV brochure was interesting and informative. Marta was very thorough and helpful when she showed us the apartment (and we did try the mokka! thanks:) I have only two (very minor) suggestions: It would be good (especially since we were travelling with kids) to have some English language channels on the TV,perhaps some English language children's DVDs for the player. When checking out accommodation options in Venice, I first looked on trip advisor, but did not find reviews for you there. It might be worthwhile having a trip advisor 'presence' . No other commentssuggestions. Thanks for an excellent service! best wishes anand .

We loved everything about our stay at Ca' Del Monastero 2. From the start, the communication between the host and us was fast, smooth and thorough. Any question we had was quickly answered. Upon arrival, the very pleasant Francesca met us at the S. Stae vaporetto stop and walked us to the flat, which was barely a five minute walk. She gave us a very informative walk-thru of the apartment, a map of the city and a book filled with things to do, places to eat, shop, relax,etc... The flat is beautifully furnished and the kitchen is stocked with all of the essentials. The beds were comfortable, and there were plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The A/C worked wonderfully well. We really loved everything about the apartment. The location was great too. It is a little removed from the touristy parts of the city, which we loved, but really only a fiveten minute walk to sites like the Rialto Bridge. We highly recommend this flat to anyone visiting Venice!

Booking the apartment was very easy. Staff was always available and assisted throughout the process. When we arrived, we were met at the apartment by Cristina - a wonderful young lady. She was very helpful, informative, and made sure we were comfortable with all the appliances and amenities in the unit, and gave us her contact number before she left. The apartment was in an ideal location at the north end of the island, close to the Piazzale Roma, train station, and Grand Canal. It was a large apartment by European standards. It was well equipped for long stays, complete kitchen, and a washer/dryer were available on the lower level. The pictures on the website were accurate. Security was excellent with locking entrance doors into the building and heavy door and lock on the apartment. Very clean, well maintained, and quiet. For a two bedroom, two bath apartment, this is a great value. Dealing with the staff was a pleasure. Very eager to please the customer and make their visit to Venice a very positive, memorable experience. Much better than the hotels in which we've stayed in the past. We will definitely make our arrangements through this company when we return to Venice.

This was our fourth stay in Venice with housing provided by Views on Venice, and our second stay in Monastero 2. We are fond of the location in Santa Croce, the proximity to Campo San Giacomo dell'Orio, the abundance of good restaurants and gelaterie, notably La Zucca and Il Refolo, and Gelato di Natura and San Stae. We were greeted by Christina at Campo San Zandegola where our water taci dropped us off just in front of the building housing the Monastero apartments. She gave us a thorough briefing on the workings of the apartment, especially explaining how to use the the kitchen equipment and the washer and dryer. The apartment was well-furnished and clean. When there was a problem with the wi-fi connection, it was promptly attended to by Christina, who explained what to do should the problem recur. The location of Ca' Del Monastero is perfect. Campo S. Giacomo Dell'Orio is a lovely neighborhood environment where families gather and children play. Coop supermarket is convenient for shopping, Gelato Di Natura has the most incredible walnut and fig gelato, and just across the Ponte del Megio is the wonderful restaurant La Zucca providing thoughtfully prepared food in an intimate setting, making every meal there an unforgettable experience. This was our third time to stay in apartments by VOV each experience has been wonderful. We hope to be back in the spring.
