Description
Ca’ Del Monastero 3
Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero - a fine antique residence comprising 9 superbly restored apartments of varying size (including Ca’ Monastero 3 - see its dedicated section below) situated in what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà(one of the oldest in Venice), moments from the Grand Canal in the district of Santa Croce.
Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods - indeed a step back in time - the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium size parties or up to 38 guests if taken together.*
No expense has been spared in its recent remodelling
Carefully co-ordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral colours meld seamlessly against a traditional backdrop of polished red marble and/or traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, while stylish high-spec fittings and attractive finishes, such as textured resin walls and luxurious feature wall coverings, give a fresh and fashionable twist to the building’s ancient framework.
Enhanced by a range of up-to-date facilities as demanded by today’s savvy traveller (including air-conditioning**, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities), the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments are perfectly placed for communing with the true and heart and soul of the city and for visiting all that Venice has to offer while providing all the comforts of modern city living.
Ca’ Del Monastero 3
A characterful and cosy 2 bedroom/1 bathroom apartment to the rear of the residence with views over the ‘Salizada’ to the pretty walled rear garden of Venice’s Natural History Museum at the Fondaco Dei Turchi.
Sleeping four and situated on the 2nd floor with lift (just above Ca’ Del Monastero 2), the apartment comprises a warm, welcoming and heavily beamed open-plan sitting/dining room - home to an L-shaped sofa and a dining suite seating four.
Just to the side lies the fully-fitted and well-equipped kitchen/breakfast room with a table for two for ‘colazione per due’, while further along sits a bijou beamed twin bedroom with two single beds (1 a ‘pull-out’).
At the apartment’s farthest end sits the elegant master bedroom with double bed which echoes the style of the other rooms with its splendid beams and muted taupe shades, while the apartment’s extra-large bathroom with large shower.
*Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer seven other apartments within this residence: Ca’ Del Monastero 1, Ca’ Del Monastero 2,Ca’ Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5, Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 8, Ca’ Del Monastero 9.
Our Comment
Style, creature comforts and history combined, in an area brimming with local flavour.
Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for hassle-free travel around the city.
And so much to see and do right on your doorstep…
Moments to Campo San Giacomo Dell’ Orio - one of Venice’s most charming ‘away from the crowds’ tree-filled squares and home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket and nearby local shops - and a short walk to a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal.
Close to a great variety of cafes, bars and eateries including All’ Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta to name but a few, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo at San Stae (Museum of the History of Fabrics, Costumes and Perfumes) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner Della Regina.
A leisurely stroll to the 14th Century Franciscan Church of the Frari, (home to Canova's extraordinary triangular marble tomb and Titian's legendary masterpiece, the 'Assumption'), the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with its amazing Tintoretto’s, the vast palazzo-lined Campo San Polo plus the culinary delights and buzz of the Rialto.

Having another bedside lamp, rather than just the one, would’ve been nice - but that’s a tiny point for an otherwise perfect stay. Our fourth stay with Views on Venice and our favourite accommodation so far, thank you.

Only negative was the distance to main area of Venice - St. Mark's Square, we were there only 2 nights and had tours booked from St. Mark's Square and it was approximately 30-35 min walk (per google maps).

We enjoyed everything about the apartment. Our contacts with the office prior to the trip, the greeter that met us, and Valentina, who explained the kitchen electricity over the phone were great. The apartment was clean, but the floors are showing wear. Would appreciate towels for drying dishes and more instructions for kitchen appliances. Otherwise we enjoyed this stay as much as our previous stay in #1.

I loved the apartment and the whole experience. Appreciated that a few basics were in the kitchen like salt and olive oil. The neighborhood was wonderful as were the local restaurants.

The flat was spotless. The bed was comfortable (it is a very firm mattress) and the linens clean. The location was perfect. It is one water bus stop from the train station. You can walk to and from the station but not recommended if you have luggage as the bridge over the canal is steep with lots of steps. This place is a nice 20 minute walk to St. Marks Square, with a walk thru the Rialto Market to buy fruit. The area is very quiet and peaceful for sleeping. Communication is amazing! Everyone worked with us on our unexpected and VERY late arrival. There was constant communication with text messages. Marta was very polite and helpful to meet us at the water bus stop, walk us to the flat and give detailed instructions on the flat and how to walk to our early morning tour location.

We wanted to thank you, again, for your hospitality. Your apartment, Ca' Del Monastero 3, in Venice was perfectly sized, the kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom was very generous in size, and the beds/furniture was most comfortable. The location is perfect. Away from the stress of the volumes of people, but so close to a local square with available bakery, restaurants and co op. There wasn't a thing missing that we needed. Thank you for being such welcoming hosts, amenable to our unexpected arrival change due to weather, and to being so helpful to send what we left in the room. If we are ever granted another opportunity to come to venice, we will stay with Veiws on Venice.

Wow what a place. The pictures don't do it justice. This is a large, sumptuous space that before long felt like home. All the furnishings were new and inviting, and the home is filled with nice touches, from the marble floors to the wood ceilings. One of the best features is the neighborhood. If you're looking for a quiet place in the real Venice near-silent, narrow stone streets, away from the throngs you couldn't do better. Coming home each night, turning down those ancient stone corridors, is a time warp that's a treat in itself.

An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square. Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire. Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes! Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs. A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront… … A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe… … Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness… Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo.
