Description
Three newly revamped apartments in a pretty, salmon-pink, antique palazzetto within the calm and cultured setting of upmarket San Samuele.
Elegantly attired in a classic, homely style and peacefully positioned within a genteel neighbourhood dotted with galleries and antique shops well clear of the hustle and bustle yet close to Campo Santo Stefano, these inviting apartments are of differing sizes and sleep up to 10 guests when taken together.
Just a few steps from the renowned Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art in a parish that legendary lover Casanova called home, the palazzetto offers a stylish address to rest easy within a short and pleasant stroll of the many attractions of St. Mark’s Square.
Moments from the illustrious Palazzo Mocenigo on the Grand Canal (the one time Venetian bolthole of ‘mad, bad and dangerous to know’ British romantic poet and literary figure, Lord Byron) and boasting air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and a warm and welcoming ambience in each, the Ca’ Grassi apartments comprise:
Ca’ Grassi 2 (Sleeps 3 on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – no lift)
Communal palazzetto entrance with stairs rising up to the apartment entrance
• Bright, cheerful and situated to the front of the palazzetto – a spacious and tastefully furnished main sitting/dining room/well-equipped kitchenette freshly decked out in buttermilk yellow and with a double sofa bed, a dining table for 4, traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring and a wall almost entirely composed of floor-to-ceiling glazed doors flooding the room with light and opening directly onto a romantic columned balcony, a superb vantage point from which to observe the comings and goings along the 'Salizada' below
• A light and airy double bedroom with 4-poster double bed, terrazzo flooring and a charming, restful atmos
And completing the accommodation:
• A smart, refitted contemporary style bathroom with shower
* Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close to each other but in separate apartments? We offer 2 other apartments in this Venetian palazzetto (little palace): Ca’ Grassi 1 (on the 2nd Floor) and Ca’ Grassi 3 (on the 3rd Floor)
OUR COMMENT
A tried and tested property with a beautiful balcony, much loved by previous guests, now refurbished and offering comfortable and peaceful accommodation in a great spot.
Situated right beside ‘Casa Veronese’ (once the home of the 16th Century Italian Renaissance painter, Paolo Veronese) and within steps of the neighbourhood grocery store/delicatessen, a wine shop, a range of cafes/osterie (including those fringing the nearby Campo Santo Stefano), plus the gallery of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings – and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ (one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici).
A stone’s throw to the Accademia Bridge crossing the Grand Canal over to Dorsoduro and conveniently close the vaporetto (water bus) stops at San Samuele and Sant' Angelo for easy travel around the city, and to the ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry which, during operating times, carries passengers across the Grand Canal between Calle Del Tragheto (near Sant’ Angelo) and San Toma in the district of San Polo.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

We were met at the vaporetto stop by Annalisa who showed us the way to the apartment. She couldn't be more welcoming and helpful. The apartment is as it appears in the photos: spacious, beautifully clean, well supplied with everything you need in a kitchen, crisp sheets and lots of towels. The location is charming with an excellent class-above the regular trattoria on the corner. The apartment is reached via two steep stairs and this may be a concern for some travellers. We highly recommend the apartment.

We had a wonderful stay, and all staff at VoV were so friendly, professional, and prompt in response to our queries. We had a couple of minor problems in the flat: a bathroom tap was broken and the main kitchen/lounge light switch was also broken but VoV helped fix the tap straight away (we only notified VoV of the light switch at the end of our stay as it was not too bad at the beginning and we didn't want to bother the office more). There was quite a bit of construction near the building, and we were very grateful that VoV offered to move us straight away when we informed the office, although we decided to stay where we were in the end because we liked the flat. We had a truly amazing visit to Venice and we loved the flat and the service by VoV was outstanding. We will definately recommend you to all our friends and family, and can't wait to rent from you again. Thank you for helping make our holiday so special.

Ca'Grassi - whilst the furnishings are fairly basic and the ground floor entrance rather uninviting the apartment is very spacious and grew on us the longer we were there. The location is superb being on a fairly quiet route yet close to the lovely Santa Stefana square and the Accademia bridge. It was very easy to walk to all places once we got our bearings and a decent map (most important). Whilst we had to cancel our original booking a month earlier due to illness we feel we probably came off better the second time round particularly with the location. The opening full-height windows in dining/sitting area to the (narrow) balcony was a bonus although too small to use other than to just sit on. We really had a good time. Thankyou.

Ca’ Del Monastero 8 Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero - a fine antique residence comprising 9 superbly restored apartments of varying size (including Ca’ Del Monastero 8 - see its dedicated section below) situated in what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà (one of the oldest in Venice), moments from the Grand Canal in the district of Santa Croce. Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods - indeed a step back in time - the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium size parties or up to 38 guests if taken together.* No expense has been spared in its recent remodelling… Carefully co-ordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral colours meld seamlessly against a traditional backdrop of polished red marble and/or traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, while stylish high-spec fittings and attractive finishes, such as textured resin walls and luxurious feature wall coverings, give a fresh and fashionable twist to the building’s ancient framework. Enhanced by a range of up-to-date facilities as demanded by today’s savvy traveller (including air-conditioning***, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities), the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments are perfectly placed for communing with the true and heart and soul of the city and for visiting all that Venice has to offer while providing all the comforts of modern city living. Ca’ Del Monastero 8 Neat, petite, convenient and sweet! – A brand new addition to the Ca’ Del Monastero residence, offering 1 bedroom/1 bathroom plus a shared furnished courtyard** Situated to the rear of the building with views over the ‘Salizada’ to the pretty walled rear garden of Venice’s Natural History Museum at the Fondaco Dei Turchi, the apartment sleeps 2 in comfort on the 2nd floor reached by stairs. Accessed via an entrance on the Salizada below (note the plaque on the wall dedicated to Don Luigi Caburlotto who, in this house in 1850, founded the religious ‘Institute of the Daughters of San Giuseppe’), the apartment comprises a cosy main sitting room decorated in restful coffee colours leading to a well-equipped and fully-fitted kitchen/dining room, while at the opposite end of the apartment lies the well-proportioned bedroom with double bed and plenty of storage, and to its side, the apartment’s modern bathroom with shower. And last but not least, access on the ground floor to the shared internal furnished courtyard – a little haven of calm set away from the world! * Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer seven other apartments within this residence: Ca’ Del Monastero 1, Ca’ Del Monastero 2, Ca’ Del Monastero 3, Ca’ Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5,Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 9. ** Please note that the furnished internal courtyard is shared with guests of Ca’ Del Monastero 5 Our Comment Style, creature comforts and history combined, in an area brimming with local flavour. Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for hassle-free travel around the city. And so much to see and do right on your doorstep… Moments to Campo San Giacomo Dell’ Orio - one of Venice’s most charming ‘away from the crowds’ tree-filled squares and home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket and nearby local shops - and a short walk to a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal. Close to a great variety of cafes, bars and eateries including All’ Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta to name but a few, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo at San Stae (Museum of the History of Fabrics, Costumes and Perfumes) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner Della Regina. A leisurely stroll to the 14th Century Franciscan Church of the Frari, (home to Canova's extraordinary triangular marble tomb and Titian's legendary masterpiece, the 'Assumption'), the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with its amazing Tintoretto’s, the vast palazzo-lined Campo San Polo plus the culinary delights and buzz of the Rialto. ***Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulation. In general, heating is available from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact us for further information. An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square. Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire. Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes! Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs. Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include: Corte Rubbi 7 – on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – sleeping 2 (+1) A ravishing and restful 1 bedroomed apartment comprising: A main living / dining area with well-equipped kitchenette (suited to light cooking)…. strikingly presented in shades of steely blue and dusky rose pink and with wooden beams overhead, a combination of Venetian terrazzo and wooden parquet flooring underfoot, a dining table for 3, plus exposed painted brickwork and a trapeze-artist mural set above a luxuriously large ruby-red velvet sofa (sleeping 1/for lounging) A warm and inviting wooden beamed double bedroom in gold and pink with a beautiful Murano glass chandelier overhead, terrazzo flooring underfoot and a tall window just to the side of a Rococo-style double bed A luxurious bathroom with chromotherapy shower, situated at the apartment entrance/to the rear of the living room Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront… … A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe… … Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness… Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo. Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa. Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini. *Note that performances are dependent on weather and season **Please note that the operation of air conditioning and heating are subjected to the municipality regulation.
