Description

A pretty as a picture pied-à-terre with a divine courtyard garden in the chic district of San Vio on the Dorsoduro ‘Museum Mile’
Peacefully tucked away and immaculately restored, this oasis of an apartment is a sanctuary of sheer delight!
Beautifully dressed in a serene pistachio green and sublime botanical murals serving to ‘bring the outside in’, Ca’ Margherita sleeps 2 guests in understated elegance between the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Accademia Galleries and Bridge.
Thoughtfully furnished with framed artwork, period pieces and bespoke mirrored cabinetry calling to mind the eastern travels of Venetian explorer Marco Polo, its colourful textiles and crimson accents instil warmth and vitality and lend an air of quiet opulence to its bright and welcoming interior.
Cosy in winter and perfect in mild weather and on balmy summer evenings when the blissful courtyard garden comes into its own, the fully air-conditioned* apartment with Wi-Fi is situated on the ground floor and offers accommodation comprising:
• An utterly charming dual-aspect main sitting / dining room furnished with a pair of comfortable sofas (one a single sofa bed) for winding down after a busy day, a dining suite for meals ‘per due’ and windows looking onto the garden giving the impression, for a fleeting moment, that one could be in the heart of the Veneto countryside!
• A compact and newly fitted kitchenette just to the side, well equipped for light cooking
• A delightful principal bedroom decorated along a similar theme – calm, romantic and relaxing in equal measure – with a double bed attired in plush damask fabric (which can be divided into singles at your request) and not one but two contemporary en suite bathrooms with sleek fittings – one with a bathtub and the other with walk-in shower… what luxury!
And returning to the main living space where we find a glazed door opening to reveal Ca’ Margherita’s…
• Dainty courtyard garden… furnished with table and chairs set upon traditional herringbone brickwork, shaded by established rhododendrons, and ideal for basking at your leisure in the very special tranquil atmosphere of this captivating part of Venice that we’re so fortunate to call home
*Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulation. In general, heating is available from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact us for further information.
OUR COMMENT
Stylish interior design and a little garden sublime just off Campo San Vio in the genteel Dorsoduro district…
A short amble to the glittering Zattere promenade for your customary evening canal-side ‘passeggiata’ and to the Palazzo Cini Gallery, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the iconic Church of the Salute, the Accademia Galleries and Bridge (and the VOV office to its side!), plus the Punta Della Dogana Center of Contemporary Art.
Also close to a variety of highly regarded eating places and bars including Ai Cugnai, Enoteca Ai Artisti and Ristorante Riviera for dining, and Corner Pub, Osteria Al Squero and Cantinone Gia Schiavi for great panini / cicheti and spritz.
An easy waterside stroll to 2 Conad supermarkets – one at the western end of the Zattere and a smaller one closer to home at Zattere Spirito Santo – and to 4 vaporetto (water bus) stops – Zattere Spirito Santo, Zattere, Salute and Accademia – for easy travel around the city (note that St. Mark’s Square can be reached by vaporetto from Salute in under 5 minutes on Line 1!)
Within a stone’s throw of the ‘traghetto’ at Calle Lanza / Calle del Traghetto S. Gregorio which, during operating hours, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to the district of San Marco, as well as the newly reopened ‘traghetto’ service at the Punta della Dogana which carries you across the water directly to the frosted-glass door of the legendary Harry’s Bar just beside St. Mark’s Square!
Also, within easy reach of the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

We were delighted with this comfortable apartment on the ground floor. Beautifully decorated, clean and quiet, with a delightful garden. We will certainly be back.

It was wonderful to have a bath, but would it be possible to have a handrail on the wall to help old people like me haul our way out?

Ca Margherita felt like a lovely retreat in the midst of so much to do and see. We felt more like visitors than tourists as we entered the main courtyard through the front gate. The interior was comfortable, beautifully and tastefully decorated and had all that we needed. We very much enjoyed our stay. Of all of the places we’ve stayed on our six visits to Venice, this is the one to which we would choose to return.

The front door to the unit could be fixed to make opening the door a less challenging experience.

This apartment is a lovely, tranquil oasis in a lovely area in Dorsoduro close to the Academia and Peggy Guggenheim museum. A short walk to Campo Santa Margherita and the lovely Santa Maria della Salute and the walk along the canal at sunset. There are some great local eateries a short walk away as well as many places to buy fresh food for preparing at home. The house is exquisitely furnished and decorated with great attention to detail. The garden is perfect for outside dining or just an escape from the hustle and bustle. I cannot recommend this place more highly!

Very stylish, without being too modern. I liked the combination of old and new elements. Everything was spotless, functional, the garden was wonderful. Our greeter was also very knowledgable and friendly.

We loved everything about this lovely and beautifully styled apartment that was even better in person than the images portrayed (and the images were lovely). Dorsoduro is ideal to feel the real Venice and a quick 5 minute walk to the Academia Vaporetto that takes you anywhere you want to go in Venice to see sights within minutes. The apartment is on a tiny Camp right on the grand Canal on one side and next to a small footbridge that makes these tiny canals and live along them, so enchanting. Dorsoduro is aesthetically beautiful with a creative and art vibe that we love when we travel. We were there for a week so we enjoyed locals foods for lunch at home a few times and even a night, both of which were wonderfully comfortable thanks to quiet and effective air conditioning (very hot when we were there). Views on Venice helped us get to and from and answered questions before and during the trip. This is the best of all worlds. r first go-to for any rentals in cities where they provide apartment rentals. Thank you!

Dorsoduro is one of the most attractive districts and the apartment is right in the middle and yet it is so quiet. The furnishings of the apartment are very special. We'd love to come back

Three newly revamped apartments in a pretty, salmon-pink, antique palazzetto within the calm and cultured setting of upmarket San Samuele. Elegantly attired in a classic, homely style and peacefully positioned within a genteel neighbourhood dotted with galleries and antique shops well clear of the hustle and bustle yet close to Campo Santo Stefano, these inviting apartments are of differing sizes and sleep up to 10 guests when taken together. Just a few steps from the renowned Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art in a parish that legendary lover Casanova called home, the palazzetto offers a stylish address to rest easy within a short and pleasant stroll of the many attractions of St. Mark’s Square. Moments from the illustrious Palazzo Mocenigo on the Grand Canal (the one time Venetian bolthole of ‘mad, bad and dangerous to know’ British romantic poet and literary figure, Lord Byron) and boasting air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and a warm and welcoming ambience in each, the Ca’ Grassi apartments comprise: Ca’ Grassi 3 (Sleeps 3 on the 3rd (top) Floor reached by stairs – no lift) Communal palazzetto entrance with stairs rising up to the apartment entrance • The apartment’s internal hallway and short stairway leading directly up to the stylish, high-vaulted, loft-style main sitting/dining room/kitchenette – a characterful space dressed in sun-bleached eau de nil and parched papyrus colours featuring a large L-shaped sofa, bespoke shelving and cabinetry inset with wall-mounted TV plus several windows overlooking the ‘Salizada’ • A dining area seating 4 to the centre of the room, plus a simple and well-equipped kitchenette to the rear • A darling ‘altana’ roof terrace just off the main room – southwest-facing, furnished and an ideal spot for taking breakfast, or unwinding in the sunshine after a busy - or not so busy! - time around town • A charming double bedroom to the rear, featuring a low and heavily beamed ceiling and a double bed (positioned fairly low to the floor due to the ceiling height) • A refreshed bathroom with bathtub and shower over, set between the main room and bedroom * Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close to each other but in separate apartments? We offer 2 other apartments in this Venetian palazzetto (little palace): Ca’ Grassi 1 (on the 2nd Floor) and Ca’ Grassi 2 (also on the 2nd Floor) OUR COMMENT A property to delight in all its wood and linen loveliness...! Much loved by previous guests and now refurbished to offer comfortable and peaceful accommodation in a great spot… and with an ‘altana’ rooftop terrace too! Situated right beside ‘Casa Veronese’ (once the home of the 16th Century Italian Renaissance painter, Paolo Veronese) and within steps of the neighbourhood grocery store/delicatessen, a wine shop, a range of cafes/osterie (including those fringing the nearby Campo Santo Stefano), plus the gallery of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings – and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ (one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici). A stone’s throw to the Accademia Bridge crossing the Grand Canal over to Dorsoduro and conveniently close the vaporetto (water bus) stops at San Samuele and Sant' Angelo for easy travel around the city, and to the ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry which, during operating times, carries passengers across the Grand Canal between Calle Del Tragheto (near Sant’ Angelo) and San Toma in the district of San Polo For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.29 reviews

A fabulous apartment offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the whole of Venice. Located on the peaceful and laid-back island of Giudecca (where Sir Elton John also has a home!) and directly across the Giudecca Canal from the Dorsoduro district, this chic and sunny property is on the third and top floor and combines comfort and style with an enviable position right next to Palladio’s Church of the Redentore. It has a tastefully decorated living room and dining area with full length windows opening directly onto the terrace (which itself runs the entire length of the apartment and is furnished for dining ‘al fresco’), one double bedroom, a fully fitted kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub and shower. A staircase leads to the extraordinary wooden ‘altana’ (roof terrace) which, along with the downstairs terrace, offers uninterrupted bird’s-eye views over the Giudecca Canal towards St. Mark’s, Dorsoduro and the domes of Santa Maria Della Salute - perfect for sunbathing, relaxing with a glass and a book or simply taking in the panorama as the boats sail by. And while you’d be forgiven for wanting to spend the whole of your holiday in a state of complete relaxation at the apartment, it’s great to know that you’re only three minutes by boat to Dorsoduro and five to St.Mark’s for sampling the very best in culture and ‘retail therapy’ that Venice has to offer – indeed the best of both worlds! Once well-known for its palazzi with gardens and now for its authentic and true ‘Venetian’ feel, Giudecca boasts a number of restaurants ranging from the beautiful canopied terrace of ‘Harry’s Dolci’ and the sophisticated restaurants of the Hotel Cipriani, to those offering simpler and more modest dining and prices to match. Or if you’d prefer to opt for a romantic dinner ‘at home’ under the stars, then stock up on groceries at one of Giudecca’s small stores, the local COOP supermarket (just a short stroll away near the vaporetto stop at ‘Palanca’) or the Prix near the Redentore even closer to home. OUR COMMENT A modern and romantic top floor apartment in a prime position on Giudecca with panoramic views over the city of Venice. For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.7 reviews
