Description
A fabulous apartment offering one of the most spectacular panoramic views in the whole of Venice.
Located on the peaceful and laid-back island of Giudecca (where Sir Elton John also has a home!) and directly across the Giudecca Canal from the Dorsoduro district, this chic and sunny property is on the third and top floor and combines comfort and style with an enviable position right next to Palladio’s Church of the Redentore.
It has a tastefully decorated living room and dining area with full length windows opening directly onto the terrace (which itself runs the entire length of the apartment and is furnished for dining ‘al fresco’), one double bedroom, a fully fitted kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub and shower.
A staircase leads to the extraordinary wooden ‘altana’ (roof terrace) which, along with the downstairs terrace, offers uninterrupted bird’s-eye views over the Giudecca Canal towards St. Mark’s, Dorsoduro and the domes of Santa Maria Della Salute - perfect for sunbathing, relaxing with a glass and a book or simply taking in the panorama as the boats sail by.
And while you’d be forgiven for wanting to spend the whole of your holiday in a state of complete relaxation at the apartment, it’s great to know that you’re only three minutes by boat to Dorsoduro and five to St.Mark’s for sampling the very best in culture and ‘retail therapy’ that Venice has to offer – indeed the best of both worlds!
Once well-known for its palazzi with gardens and now for its authentic and true ‘Venetian’ feel, Giudecca boasts a number of restaurants ranging from the beautiful canopied terrace of ‘Harry’s Dolci’ and the sophisticated restaurants of the Hotel Cipriani, to those offering simpler and more modest dining and prices to match. Or if you’d prefer to opt for a romantic dinner ‘at home’ under the stars, then stock up on groceries at one of Giudecca’s small stores, the local COOP supermarket (just a short stroll away near the vaporetto stop at ‘Palanca’) or the Prix near the Redentore even closer to home.
OUR COMMENT
A modern and romantic top floor apartment in a prime position on Giudecca with panoramic views over the city of Venice.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

The staff at VoV are always most helpful in arranging taxis, and it was very kind of the owners to give us a late checkout this time too. All in all a happy holiday. Thank you all. |

The shower is rather temperamental with hot water coming in bursts, turning cold in between. Otherwise pretty perfect.

We had a very pleasant week in Venice and the apartment was fine for just the two of us. The kitchen is very small but OK for preparing small meals the balcony is marvellous with splendid views! The bathroom could benefit from a little updating — the shower is a bit difficult to use and the folding glass screen doesn't seal to the edge of the bath so the floor gets wet. But these are small problems and overall we give the apartment 9/10. VoV have given good service and we are already booked with you for next June 2017 to stay at the Ca'del Glicine, a short 5 holiday to celebrate my 70th birthday with the family. Thank you,

You are still doing a great job with a high service level, and our best recommendation is that we are about to book our Fifth stay in Venice through Views On Venice.

Ca' Rendentore 4 was a great place to stay in Venice, and it has probably got the most spectacular view from any apartment in the city. You had not oversold the apartment in any way - neither in pictures nor words. There is even a small terrace on the south side, which was a regular suntrap, and which you had not written about. We virtually lived outside on the terrace looking at the everchanging vista on Giudecca Canal. If you have a ACTV-Card you can easily board the Vaporetto and in 5 minutes you'll be at the ZattereSt. Marco and can do your shopping, but we ended up getting most of our provisions on Giudecca. The service from the V-O-V team was again excellent - friendly and efficient, even when you had to move us from our original rental, and we highly recommend your services. After we have sent this questionnaire we will be requesting a holiday in Ca' Redentore 4 in '14, and that in it self must be the ultimate recommendation. We must come back. :-)

Three newly revamped apartments in a pretty, salmon-pink, antique palazzetto within the calm and cultured setting of upmarket San Samuele. Elegantly attired in a classic, homely style and peacefully positioned within a genteel neighbourhood dotted with galleries and antique shops well clear of the hustle and bustle yet close to Campo Santo Stefano, these inviting apartments are of differing sizes and sleep up to 10 guests when taken together. Just a few steps from the renowned Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art in a parish that legendary lover Casanova called home, the palazzetto offers a stylish address to rest easy within a short and pleasant stroll of the many attractions of St. Mark’s Square. Moments from the illustrious Palazzo Mocenigo on the Grand Canal (the one time Venetian bolthole of ‘mad, bad and dangerous to know’ British romantic poet and literary figure, Lord Byron) and boasting air-conditioning, Wi-Fi and a warm and welcoming ambience in each, the Ca’ Grassi apartments comprise: Ca’ Grassi 3 (Sleeps 3 on the 3rd (top) Floor reached by stairs – no lift) Communal palazzetto entrance with stairs rising up to the apartment entrance • The apartment’s internal hallway and short stairway leading directly up to the stylish, high-vaulted, loft-style main sitting/dining room/kitchenette – a characterful space dressed in sun-bleached eau de nil and parched papyrus colours featuring a large L-shaped sofa, bespoke shelving and cabinetry inset with wall-mounted TV plus several windows overlooking the ‘Salizada’ • A dining area seating 4 to the centre of the room, plus a simple and well-equipped kitchenette to the rear • A darling ‘altana’ roof terrace just off the main room – southwest-facing, furnished and an ideal spot for taking breakfast, or unwinding in the sunshine after a busy - or not so busy! - time around town • A charming double bedroom to the rear, featuring a low and heavily beamed ceiling and a double bed (positioned fairly low to the floor due to the ceiling height) • A refreshed bathroom with bathtub and shower over, set between the main room and bedroom * Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close to each other but in separate apartments? We offer 2 other apartments in this Venetian palazzetto (little palace): Ca’ Grassi 1 (on the 2nd Floor) and Ca’ Grassi 2 (also on the 2nd Floor) OUR COMMENT A property to delight in all its wood and linen loveliness...! Much loved by previous guests and now refurbished to offer comfortable and peaceful accommodation in a great spot… and with an ‘altana’ rooftop terrace too! Situated right beside ‘Casa Veronese’ (once the home of the 16th Century Italian Renaissance painter, Paolo Veronese) and within steps of the neighbourhood grocery store/delicatessen, a wine shop, a range of cafes/osterie (including those fringing the nearby Campo Santo Stefano), plus the gallery of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings – and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ (one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici). A stone’s throw to the Accademia Bridge crossing the Grand Canal over to Dorsoduro and conveniently close the vaporetto (water bus) stops at San Samuele and Sant' Angelo for easy travel around the city, and to the ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry which, during operating times, carries passengers across the Grand Canal between Calle Del Tragheto (near Sant’ Angelo) and San Toma in the district of San Polo For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.29 reviews

A charmingly evocative bolthole for two in the building once lived in by the 16th Century Italian Renaissance painter Tintoretto and within a minute of his final resting place in the beautiful gothic Church of Madonna Dell 'Orto (Our Lady of the Garden). Close to the historic Jewish Ghetto and the Jewish Museum of Venice and steps away from the famous turbaned and metal-nosed statues of the ancient 'Moorish' spice merchants of Campo and Fondamenta Dei Mori - symbolic reminders of Venice's historic trading routes with the East, the legacy of which survives to this day amidst the hubbub and commerce of the Rialto markets, a mere 10-15 minute stroll and short 'traghetto' ride away from the apartment. Elegant, bright and with beautifully languid south-facing views over the Rio Della Sensa canal, the air-conditioned* Ca' Tintoretto is on the first floor and is attractively furnished with a stylishly eclectic mix of antiques, contemporary pieces, books and collectables. It has a cosy and freshly decorated beamed sitting/dining room with comfortable seating, wooden flooring, eastern rugs, a music system and two large windows with wrought iron balustrades which overlook the canal, a bridge and the occasional art-lover successful in hunting down and photographing this historically significant landmark. Just off this main room lies a compact and very well-fitted kitchen and, to the side, a spacious and dreamy 'boudoir' - a cleverly divided space featuring a double bed and modern en suite shower room at one end, an enormous wall-to-wall sofa directly overlooking the room's beautiful arched window at the other and a perfect spot for idling away the time while contemplating your choice of restaurant for lunch or dinner as the boats gently pass by. In an area of wonderful walks through the laid-back and very traditional neighbourhoods of Cannaregio and within easy reach of a growing number of restaurants and 'osterie' such as 'Anice Stellato', 'Rioba', 'Ristorante Diana' and 'Al Timon' dotted along the wide waterfronts of the Fondamente De La Sensa, Della Misericordia and Dei Ormesini, not forgetting the Osteria L'Orto dei Mori just steps away from the apartment. Convenient for the shops of the Strada Nuova for stocking up on supplies and to the vaporetto system at Madonna Dell' Orto (on Venice's northern embankment) for travel around the city, trips to beaches of the Lido and for sightseeing visits to the glass-blowing island of Murano, the lace-making and rainbow-coloured island of Burano and the ancient island of Torcello with its 7th Century Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and later Church of Santa Fosca. OUR COMMENT An adorable and romantic retreat for two - well off the beaten tourist track but with lots to see and do right on the doorstep. *Please note that the operation of air conditioning and heating are subjected to the municipality regulation. Generally, the heating works from middle of October to middle of April, while air conditioning works between middle of Aprile to middle of October. Please contact us for further information.
