Description
Ca’ San Beneto
NEW LISTING!
A new and classically attired 2-bedroomed apartment in a fabulously central area pivotal to Venice’s main sights!
Steps away from the magnificent 15th-century Venetian Gothic Palazzo Fortuny in a chic area of San Marco tucked away from the main traffic flows and the hubbub of passing crowds, the freshly updated Ca’ San Beneto sleeps 4 on the 1st floor of an ancient building identified by a stone ‘stemma’ (coat of arms) set within the wall above its main front door.
Self-catering in style simply doesn’t come any easier courtesy of a large and well-stocked supermarket within moments of your Venetian ‘home’, while the Rialto Bridge, the Grand Canal and St. Mark’s Square can all be reached on foot within minutes, along with 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops for ease of travel about town.
Calm and comfortable in vibe, accessed by stairs (no lift) and showcasing a host of traditional Venetian features including polished terrazzo flooring, age-old timbers and gorgeous Murano chandeliers lighting up its rooms, the air-conditioned apartment includes Wi-Fi and a washing machine / dryer for added convenience within accommodation comprising:
A warm, welcoming and classically attired main central sitting / dining room echoing the layout of a Grand Canal palazzo ‘piano nobile’ (noble floor) ‘salone’ yet cosier, more intimate and rather more modest in proportion and home to a tall wooden-beamed ceiling, 3 large windows to the fore, a velvet sofa with additional seating and a dining suite for 4
A separate well-equipped kitchen / breakfast room with fitted units and breakfast table lit by old-school, industrial-style lamps overhead
An attractive principal bedroom overlooking the little thoroughfares to the front and side of the apartment, simply furnished with a double bed and painted chests of drawers, and a contemporary en suite bathroom with bathtub and shower over
A restful twin bedroom to the rear of the apartment dressed in similar style to the principal with 2 single beds, which can be made into a double upon your request when booking , wardrobe and a contemporary en suite bathroom with marble-clad shower
In the apartment there is a printer available for Guests.
OUR COMMENT
A treasure tucked away in the heart of San Marco that ticks all the boxes for a memorable Venice stay!
Within seconds of the peaceful and semi-secluded Campo and Church of San Beneto (founded in the 11th century) and the breathtakingly beautiful, ultra- atmospheric Palazzo Fortuny Museum of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo – famous photographer, painter, stage and textile designer – well worth a visit if open (usually only during exhibitions).
Also close to the charming Scala Contarini del Bovolo (Staircase of the Snail) and the Teatro La Fenice, and just a quick sidestep off the vibrant little shop-filled thoroughfare known as Calle della Mandola (Street of the Almond) connecting Campo Santo Stefano to Campo Sant’ Angelo, with the famous Rialto Bridge and district to the north and St. Mark’s Square and its myriad attractions to the south.
Within moments of the Multisala Rossini complex housing a 3-screen cinema and a large, newly re-opened Despar supermarket for stocking up on supplies and within easy reach of 2 vaporetto (water bus) stops for easy travel around the city – one at Rialto on the Riva Del Carbon and the other at Sant’ Angelo – and to 2 ‘traghetto’ services ferrying passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal (please check operating times) – one between the Riva Del Carbon near Rialto in the district of San Marco and the Riva Del Vin at San Silvestro in the district San Polo, and the other between Calle Del Tragheto near Sant' Angelo in San Marco and San Toma in San Polo.

An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square. Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire. Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes! Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs. Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include: Corte Rubbi 5 – on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – sleeping 2+1 A beautifully attired bijou studio enjoying canal views from its 2 windows to the fore and comprising: A charming main living / dining / sleeping area in fashionably clashing shades of flamingo pink and scarlet with Venetian terrazzo flooring, wooden beamed ceiling, a double bed with twin bunk beds to the rear, a well-equipped kitchenette for light cooking, and a dining area seating 4 A luxurious bathroom to the side with marble walls and chromotherapy shower Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer 9 other apartments within this palazzo: Corte Rubbi 1, Corte Rubbi 3, Corte Rubbi 6, Corte Rubbi 8, Corte Rubbi 9, Corte Rubbi 10, Corte Rubbi 11 and Corte Rubbi 5514 OUR COMMENT A bijou studio for 4 bursting with colour and joie de vivre, in a vibrant, central and endlessly fascinating part of town. A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront… … A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe… … Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness… Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo. Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa. Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini. *Note that performances are dependent on weather and season **Please note that the operation of air conditioning and heating are subjected to the municipality regulation.
