Description
Immerse yourselves in the colours and richness of the adventures of Marco Polo on the legendary Silk Road!
Awaiting your discovery in the district of San Marco, Ca’ Via Della Seta is a vibrant and characterful 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment, newly renovated and re-furbished by its globetrotting - or rather ‘globe-sailing’ - owners.
Passionate travellers and adventurers both, their fascination for the history of Venice and the adventures of the merchant traveller Marco Polo has found its ultimate expression in this exciting new property, fabulously located in the very heart of Venice. Exit stage left and in just a few steps you’ll find yourself in front of the Teatro La Fenice! Exit stage right, and the beauty of St. Mark's Square awaits you.
Upon entering the private Courtyard ‘Cuoridoro’ (Golden Hearts), the hustle and bustle of the day is left behind, while a second private entrance leads up a single flight of stairs and into your oasis. With six large windows overlooking the ‘Rio dei Barcaroli’ canal and six large windows onto the courtyard below, the perfect mix of privacy and Venetian life is achieved.
Sleeping 4+1 and fully air-conditioned throughout, this one-of-a-kind apartment redolent of far-off lands is handsomely appointed, its 4m high ceiling with exposed beams accentuating the spaciousness and elegance of the living space, the exotic mirrors, wooden flooring, soft curtains and oriental rugs further enhancing its seductively bohemian and easy-living appeal.
Wake up to the music of Mozart, who, in 1771, resided in the palazzo directly opposite. Sip your coffee, watching the gondolas pass below. A professional kitchen to rival that of a Michelin-starred restaurant is a bonus for those who enjoy cooking away from home, while the professional two-door fridge/freezer dispenses cold filtered water and ice for your sunset cocktails.
For those preferring to leave the cooking to others, local dishes can be enjoyed at the neighbouring restaurant, who may (upon request) also be able to deliver food and wines directly to your timber and copper-topped dining table.
After a full day of sightseeing, unwind on the leather sofa or armchair while the state-of-the-art Bluetooth stereo system plays soothingly in the background. Take a relaxing bath or an energising rain shower in one of the two exposed brick and beamed bathrooms, each delightfully decked out with timber flooring, contemporary fittings and wonderfully hip ‘rustic-chic’ copper pipework.
The master bedroom with en-suite bathroom features two windows on the canal, a king size antique bed dating from the 1800s, soft lighting and oriental ornaments, while the courtyard-facing second bedroom with its ornate coloured lamps, oriental rug, and wooden statues that are a feature of the closed fireplace is charming and full of atmosphere. Romantic and cosseting for couples, this room can also be prepared as a twin with two single beds.
The apartmenthas Wi-Fi internet connection and a 48 inch screen TV. The TV room also features a lovely sofa that can also be used as a single bed, while the Bose Bluetooth hi-fi systems installed in both bedrooms and kitchen, allow you to enjoy your music of choice wherever you happen to be. Unpack and store your bags in the private storeroom below, which is also equipped with a large washing machine and tumble dryer for your convenience.
OUR COMMENT
Immerse yourself in the richness and colours of the Silk Road right in the heart of Venice - your adventure begins here, as did Marco Polo’s! Water taxis can whisk you quickly from the airport or any part of Venice to within just a few steps of Ca’ Via Della Seta’s front door.
Minutes from the Rialto vaporetto (water bus) stop and even closer to the stop at Sant’Angelo for easy movement around the city, and to the ‘traghetto’ gondola ferry at ‘Garzoni’ crossing the Grand Canal to San Toma in district of San Polo.
Close to some of the finest luxury boutiques, three well-stocked supermarkets (one specialising in organic foods), to a local wine shop just off Campo Santo Stefano, and to one of Venice’s most famous coffee and pastry shops - Marchini - where locals stop to chat.
A 10 minute amble across the iconic Rialto Bridge to the Rialto for market-fresh food shopping, and within a short stroll of the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art and the Accademia Bridge leading over the Grand Canal to the attractions of Dorsoduro.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

The option of a sliding curtain /sliding door between the TV room/5th room would help when a 5th guest is staying on the couch. This would allow for some privacy

I spent weeks looking into apartment accommodations for our stay in Venice and was so happy to come across VOV and Ca' Via della Seta. From booking confirmation all the way to checkout, working with the agents from VOV was such an easy and pleasant experience.
Prior to our arrival Cristina provided us with a step-by-step check-in guide. She then met us at the waterbus to walk us to the apartment AND she even helped arrange a separate water taxi for family arriving the next day. We felt so comfortable knowing we could reach out to the VOV agents for anything that might come up. Although we didn't take advantage of half of the concierge services offered, we definitely will next time. In addition to the great service, the apartment definitely lived up to our expectation! It was clean, warm + cozy (we were there in Jan), with a perfectly stocked kitchen and was in a great location steps from San Marco. And to make you feel like you are really in the beloved city of Venice, we had a few mornings when singing gondoliers would pass by our window. We for sure will be back to Venice and will plan to stay in a VOV apartment again. I can't recommend the experience enough! |

This apartment was the best of the four apartments we booked during our recent European trip. The location could not be better our granddaughter spent the afternoons looking out the window at the singing gondoliers. We loved the surrounding area and how easy it was to get just about anywhere in this lovely city. We well appreciated the air conditioning as it was sweltering hot while we were visiting. The kitchen is well-appointed as we cooked dinner most nights during our stay. Our communal dinners at the unique dining table were memorable. The reception from Camilla on arrival was lovely - she met us promptly and clearly explained how everything in the apartment worked. We will return and even if there's only two of us will probably choose this apartment again. Thank you Views on Venice for everything!

The apartment was lovely and looked just as it did in the pictures on the website. It was actually larger than I thought it would be. The kitchen was very well equipped and had almost everything we needed to cook a meal. It is in a wonderful neighborhood within walking distance of all the other siestres and major sites (St. Marks, L'Accademia, Peggy Guggenheim, Rialto Bridge, etc). There are several restaurants and cafes right outside the door. My only suggestion would be to provide more lighting (reading lamps, etc). We were there over Christmas and it could have used more light. Overall, we were very pleased with the apartment and the service from the staff at Views on Venice. They were very accessible and most helpful.

We had a wonderful week in Venice. It was great to be met from the vaporetto and guided to Ca' Via Della Seta. It's a lovely apartment very true to the pictures on the website, and in a great location with the gondolas and singers passing by on the canal outside. As well as eating out a lot we visited the superb market and cooked for ourselves - this was the best equipped kitchen we have ever had in a holiday apartment. Even the knives were sharp! The air conditioning units were very effective and the ice and cold water dispensers on the freezer were great. Minor quibbles with the quirky taps that are hard to turn on and off and the beautiful but not very comfortable leather sofa and chair. Your staff were very helpful both on booking and whilst in Venice - many thanks. We would not hesitate to book with Views On Venice again.

As featured in The Telegraph online January 2018 - ‘Live like a local: why a holiday apartment is a great option for a Venice city break’ - by Fiona Duncan, Hotel Expert, and in the June 2016 issue of Condé Nast Traveller magazine - ‘My Own Private Venice - the best apartments, palazzos & villas to take over as your own' A marvellous ‘mansarda’ apartment with a wonderful ‘altana’ rooftop terrace offering exceptional views in the heart of Castello. Moments on foot to the landmark leaning bell-tower of San Giorgio Dei Greci and to the 'Questura' office of Donna Leon's fictional crime-busting Commissario Guido Brunetti on the ‘Rio di San Lorenzo’ canal, Ca’ Del Pittore offers captivating and highly individual roof-space surroundings for up to four guests on the very top floor. Trendy sister property to VOV’s supremely elegant Ca' Dei Greci (sleeping eight) in the same building and within easy walking distance of all the must-see sights of St. Mark’s Square (including the Basilica, Doge’s Palace and the Clock Tower) yet away from the hustle and bustle, the apartment has an entrance area and a staircase leading up to a large main living space made cosy and characterful thanks to the preservation of its magnificently rustic roof and wall timbers, wooden plank flooring, attractive ‘sunken’ seating area and eclectic choice of furnishings. This main room leads via an arched glazed doorway surrounded by pretty conservatory-style trompe de l’oeil decoration, to a bright and fully-equipped west-facing kitchen enjoying fabulous views from its two rear windows. There are two double bedrooms, one on either side of the apartment - a light and airy double with splendid beams, built in wardrobes and a double bed, and a similarly beamed twin with two singles - a handy walk-in closet plus two stylish bathrooms - one with a small bath and chequerboard flooring and another with w.c. and wash hand basin. Air-conditioning, a washing machine and internet connection further transform Ca’ Del Pittore into a comfy, practical and convenient choice whatever the season or duration of your stay, while a short staircase from the living area rises to the furnished ‘altana’ terrace boasting breathtaking ‘never to be forgotten’ vistas over Venice, taking in the churches of San Francesco Della Vigna and San Giorgio Maggiore in the distance and the onion domes and bell-tower of St. Mark’s soaring above a superabundance of terracotta rooftops. OUR COMMENT An impressive conversion in a fabulous spot, furnished by its Venice-loving owners. A short walk to the atmospheric Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni and its wonderful Carpaccio paintings, the monumental Dominican Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo (one of the largest churches in Venice and burial place of no fewer than 25 Venetian Doges), and to Campo Santa Maria Formosa (site of the Querini Stampalia) passing Palazzo Grimani on the way. And even closer to home - moments to the cavernous and newly restored Church of San Lorenzo (long closed but now home to Ocean Space - a collaborative platform focusing on ocean conservation) and to the Museo di Dipinti Sacri Byzanti (Museum of Icons) just along the canal. Also within easy reach of the local Punto supermarket for easy self-catering and to the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria on the Riva Degli Schiavoni waterfront. Important: please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs, ‘altana’ rooftop terrace and low windows. Are you part of a larger group who would like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer another apartment in this building: Ca’ Dei Greci For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.33 reviews

Corte Rubbi 1 has been listed as one of "The 12 best Airbnbs in Venice" by Time Out, nov 2024 An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square. Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’ on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire. Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes! Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 5 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs. Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi Il Palazzo’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include: Corte Rubbi 1 – Ground Floor – sleeping 4 (+1) A fabulous 2-bedroomed apartment promising a true canal-side experience and sleeping up to 5 guests in ultra-characterful surroundings. A cosy and characterful room with great personality A spacious and attractive double bedroom with double bed and 2 windows facing the Rio de San Zulian canal A smart separate marble bathroom with shower A restful 2nd double bedroom to the rear of the apartment with a double bed and a smart en suite marble bathroom with small bathtub and shower over Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront… … A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe… … Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness… Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo. Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa. Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini. *Note that performances are dependent on weather and season **Please note that the operation of air conditioning and heating are subjected to the municipality regulation.
