Description
An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square.
Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire.
Standing at the gondola-busy T-junction of the San Zulian and Bareteri canals, and encapsulating 10 dazzling apartments of varying colourway and size, the newly launched Corte Rubbi is but a stroll to some of Venice’s most iconic attractions and countless beguiling vistas on which to feast your eyes!
Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs.
Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include:
Corte Rubbi 7 – on the 2nd Floor reached by stairs – sleeping 2 (+1)
A ravishing and restful 1 bedroomed apartment comprising:
A main living / dining area with well-equipped kitchenette (suited to light cooking)…. strikingly presented in shades of steely blue and dusky rose pink and with wooden beams overhead, a combination of Venetian terrazzo and wooden parquet flooring underfoot, a dining table for 3, plus exposed painted brickwork and a trapeze-artist mural set above a luxuriously large ruby-red velvet sofa (sleeping 1/for lounging)
A warm and inviting wooden beamed double bedroom in gold and pink with a beautiful Murano glass chandelier overhead, terrazzo flooring underfoot and a tall window just to the side of a Rococo-style double bed
A luxurious bathroom with chromotherapy shower, situated at the apartment entrance/to the rear of the living room
Are you part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer 9 other apartments within this palazzo: Corte Rubbi 1, Corte Rubbi 3, Corte Rubbi 5, Corte Rubbi 6, Corte Rubbi 8, Corte Rubbi 9, Corte Rubbi 10, Corte Rubbi 11 and Corte Rubbi 5514
OUR COMMENT
A delightful city-base for 3, full of style and joie de vivre, in a vibrant, central and endlessly fascinating part of town.
A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront…
… A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe…
… Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness…
Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo.
Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
Within a short stroll of the vaporetto (water bus) stop at Rialto for exploring the city, the ‘Traghetto’ gondola ferry carrying passengers across the Grand Canal between the Riva Del Carbon and San Silvestro in the San Polo district and the vaporetto (water bus) stop at San Zaccaria for trips around town, visits to the Lido beaches and to the Biennale Pavilions at Arsenale and Giardini.

The apartment is accessible from a narrow street but in front of it the space widens and there is an inner courtyard. The staircase and the apartment are beautifully renovated. The bed is very comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped, it is obvious that everything has been thought out and taken care of! We went to the market at Rialto in the morning and cooked shrimp pasta for lunch. There was even a cheese grater! And what is very important, Marco was very kind and helpful with us the whole time! Thank you for contributing greatly to making us feel so great!

Ho avuto qualche piccola difficoltà nella comprensione della regolazione dei termosifoni e con il rumore di una ventola di aerazione posta in cima alla porta di ingresso che non sapevo come spegnere.

Ca’ Del Monastero 8 Introducing the very special Ca’ Del Monastero - a fine antique residence comprising 9 superbly restored apartments of varying size (including Ca’ Del Monastero 8 - see its dedicated section below) situated in what was once the monastery connected to the ancient Church of San Zan Degolà (one of the oldest in Venice), moments from the Grand Canal in the district of Santa Croce. Enjoying an atmosphere of calm serenity in what must surely be one of Venice’s most evocative and unspoilt neighbourhoods - indeed a step back in time - the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments offer spacious and beautifully presented accommodation for small and medium size parties or up to 38 guests if taken together.* No expense has been spared in its recent remodelling… Carefully co-ordinated contemporary furnishings and soft neutral colours meld seamlessly against a traditional backdrop of polished red marble and/or traditional Venetian terrazzo flooring, while stylish high-spec fittings and attractive finishes, such as textured resin walls and luxurious feature wall coverings, give a fresh and fashionable twist to the building’s ancient framework. Enhanced by a range of up-to-date facilities as demanded by today’s savvy traveller (including air-conditioning***, Wi-Fi internet connection and communal utility facilities), the Ca’ Del Monastero apartments are perfectly placed for communing with the true and heart and soul of the city and for visiting all that Venice has to offer while providing all the comforts of modern city living. Ca’ Del Monastero 8 Neat, petite, convenient and sweet! – A brand new addition to the Ca’ Del Monastero residence, offering 1 bedroom/1 bathroom plus a shared furnished courtyard** Situated to the rear of the building with views over the ‘Salizada’ to the pretty walled rear garden of Venice’s Natural History Museum at the Fondaco Dei Turchi, the apartment sleeps 2 in comfort on the 2nd floor reached by stairs. Accessed via an entrance on the Salizada below (note the plaque on the wall dedicated to Don Luigi Caburlotto who, in this house in 1850, founded the religious ‘Institute of the Daughters of San Giuseppe’), the apartment comprises a cosy main sitting room decorated in restful coffee colours leading to a well-equipped and fully-fitted kitchen/dining room, while at the opposite end of the apartment lies the well-proportioned bedroom with double bed and plenty of storage, and to its side, the apartment’s modern bathroom with shower. And last but not least, access on the ground floor to the shared internal furnished courtyard – a little haven of calm set away from the world! * Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? We offer seven other apartments within this residence: Ca’ Del Monastero 1, Ca’ Del Monastero 2, Ca’ Del Monastero 3, Ca’ Del Monastero 4, Ca’ Del Monastero 5,Ca’ Del Monastero 6, Ca’ Del Monastero 7, Ca’ Del Monastero 9. ** Please note that the furnished internal courtyard is shared with guests of Ca’ Del Monastero 5 Our Comment Style, creature comforts and history combined, in an area brimming with local flavour. Within easy walking distance of Venice’s Santa Lucia Railway Station and Piazzale Roma if travelling light, and even closer to the vaporetto (waterbus) stops at Riva di Biasio and San Stae on the Grand Canal for hassle-free travel around the city. And so much to see and do right on your doorstep… Moments to Campo San Giacomo Dell’ Orio - one of Venice’s most charming ‘away from the crowds’ tree-filled squares and home to a well-stocked Coop supermarket and nearby local shops - and a short walk to a Conad supermarket on the Rio Marin canal. Close to a great variety of cafes, bars and eateries including All’ Anfora, La Zucca, Il Refolo, Al Prosecco and Antica Besseta to name but a few, and within minutes of the Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Palazzo Mocenigo at San Stae (Museum of the History of Fabrics, Costumes and Perfumes) and the Fondazione Prada at Ca’ Corner Della Regina. A leisurely stroll to the 14th Century Franciscan Church of the Frari, (home to Canova's extraordinary triangular marble tomb and Titian's legendary masterpiece, the 'Assumption'), the Scuola Grande di San Rocco with its amazing Tintoretto’s, the vast palazzo-lined Campo San Polo plus the culinary delights and buzz of the Rialto. ***Please note that the operation of air-conditioning and heating are subject to municipality regulation. In general, heating is available from mid-October to mid-April, while air-conditioning is available from mid-April to mid-October. Please contact us for further information. A light, bright apartment with lots of appeal, newly discovered in the Dorsoduro district. Simply furnished and peacefully situated in that upmarket and very select part of town between the Accademia Galleries and Bridge and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Ca’ Dell’ Abate is on the second floor and sleeps two in freshly restored and air-conditioned surroundings, and has a really super terrace and internet connection too! Within a short stroll of the majestic domes of the Salute, the contemporary art of the Punta Della Dogana and the gorgeous views (and ice-cream!) along the Zattere promenade, the apartment is reached via an external staircase leading directly up from a secret little courtyard garden (SO typical of Venice) to a spacious tiled terrace all of its own. A splendid spot for relaxing and for taking in the atmosphere, the terrace (furnished with table and chairs) offers tranquil garden and rooftop views plus a small sideways glimpse towards a quaint Venetian bridge and the flourishing fondamenta leading directly to the Guggenheim - perfect for watching the art-lovers go by! Once inside, accommodation comprises a roomy and well-presented sitting/dining room with cool terrazzo flooring, a sofa, wooden beams and two windows overlooking the hidden little Rio delle Torreselle canal below; a simple yet well-equipped galley-style kitchen perfectly sufficient for easy self-catering; a large bright bedroom with double bed, terrazzo flooring and two windows looking onto the terrace, and an up-to-date bathroom with nicely tiled shower. OUR COMMENT Peaceful accommodation and much-prized outside space - a ‘delizia per due’ in a classy locale. Close to three vaporetto (water bus) stops - Accademia, Zattere and Spirito Santo - for easy travel around the city and to a great selection of little shops, bars and restaurants including the canal-side Cantinone Storico, the tiny and convivial Corner Pub, the upmarket Ai Gondolieri and Agli Alboretti and the popular Bar da Gino serving super panini. ; Moments to Campo San Vio where one can sit and watch the boats chug by along the Grand Canal (and the setting for a number of scenes in David Lean’s classic 1955 film ‘Summertime’ starring Katharine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi), and a stone’s throw to the ‘traghetto’ at Calle Lanza/Calle Del Tragheto San Gregorio ferrying passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to Santa Maria Del Giglio and the attractions of San Marco. For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.30 reviews
