Description
The ULTIMATE in refinement and elegant living, with views that must surely be second to none!
Directly overlooking St. Mark’s Basilica, St. Mark’s Square and the Campanile towering tall, it’s with barely contained excitement that we welcome Due Leoni…
… A property that made us all gasp in astonishment, to describe it as ‘stunning’ would be an understatement to say the least!
Hosting 6 astute guests in trip-of-a-lifetime surroundings and (almost!) rubbing shoulders with the Torre dell’ Orologio (Clock Tower) next door, the 4 bedroom Due Leoni is as rare as it is ravishing and is bright, uplifting and exceptional throughout.
Classically furnished with grace and panache and on the 4th floor served by lift, the air-conditioned* apartment boasts gorgeous wooden parquet flooring while its walls are adorned with period paintings and prints.
‘Take-your-breath-away-wonderful’ and including Wi-Fi, the accommodation comprises -
- An airy and spacious south-facing sitting / dining room with ample comfortable seating, a beautiful Aubusson-style rug, and an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling glazed doors opening directly onto the long furnished terrace overlooking the Basilica… take a browse through its photo gallery - need we say more!
- A cosy library / relaxation area with sofa to the side where the TV, though just the thing for chilling out during downtime, inevitably ‘plays second fiddle’ to the splendid vista outside
- A streamlined, modern galley-style kitchen - well-equipped and found just to the rear of the sitting room
- A quietly elegant master bedroom to the front of the apartment with a double bed and 3 floor-to-ceiling glazed doors opening onto the terrace enjoying eye-level views towards the Basilica’s famous bronze horses and extending down to the waters of the Bacino beside the Doge’s Palace
- A beautifully presented double bedroom to the rear with double bed and a few steps leading up to an en-suite bathroom with shower
- Two very pretty chintzy single bedrooms to the middle of the apartment (and on opposite sides), one with an en-suite bathroom with shower
- A separate bathroom with bathtub to the very rear of the property, & completing the apartment…
- A laundry room with combined washing machine/dryer, ideal for longer stays
* Present in all main rooms with the exception of the kitchen

OUR COMMENT
100% Chic and entirely unique - one of the most remarkable rental properties in Venice today.
Standing in the iconic beating heart of ‘La Serenissima’ - St. Mark’s Square - where, at night, the orchestras of the world-famous Gran Caffe Quadri and Caffe Florian conjure up a truly magical atmosphere (music is dependent on weather and season!), while the pink and white marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness.
A short stroll to the Rialto Bridge crossing the Grand Canal and within easy reach of 2 well-stocked supermarkets for all your self-catering requirements - one at Salizada San Lio and the other at Rialto - and to the vaporetto (water bus) stops at San Zaccaria and Vallaresso for simple and convenient travel around town.
For arrivals between 8.00 p.m. and midnight there is an additional cost for "late arrival" of Euro 50, to be paid in cash upon arrival. We organize arrivals between midnight and one o'clock with an additional cost of Euro 100, after this time we reserve the right to accept the customer always with a supplement to be quantified according to the time of arrival.

Central location and amazing view!

Apart from the incredible location right at the piazza, the apartment was very spacious and comfortable for my family. Having a lift in the building (although very small and old) was a plus as well.
The view was also incredible - almost unreal!

Located at the center means plenty of noise - different bells from nearby towers ring until midnight and start ringing from very early in the morning, so this may wake you up especially if you sleep in the main masters bedroom.
The noise from tourists enjoying the piazza late at night can also be heard quite well if you are in the livingroom and masters bedroom, so if you are a light sleeper, this may affect your stay. |

Great apartment, breakfast and evenings overlooking the action on St Marks. Couldn't be better located or have a better view unless it was on top of the cathedral itself.

We had been to Venice many times in different places and locations. It is hard to imagine that there is place in Venice that would have a cooler location. Besides of the flat itself that is very nice, with a very nicely equipped kitchen (You will be tempted to cook yourself, having that balcony over S. Marco) you are always very near to anything you could think of in Venice. Should You wish to do so, you can always return "home" for a break and be "back on the road" refreshed and rested.
The VoV-staff has been very helpfull troughout the planing, booking and stay. |

I realise the entrance is a public space for all tenants of the building but a bit of effort to make it look less grim could be an idea a simple new coat of paint on the walls could work!

The apartment was beautiful and the location is amazing. The large balcony is amazing and a lot of time was spent on the balcony which is a stone's throw from San Marco. The apartment was very clean, and everything looked very new. The bathrooms are clean and there are 2 showers and 1 bath tub with a handheld shower. We hasd the daily cleaning service and clean towels. The only negative things I could say was that there was no placed to hang any used towels if you did not get the daily towel service. There was not even a place for the hand towels next to the sinks. The bathrooms were small but clean.

Created with a generous serving of Venetian verve and va-va-voom, we proudly present apartment Ca’ Della Luce. Peacefully positioned in the refined, palazzo-packed parish of San Samuele close to the Grand Canal in the district of San Marco, and flooded with light as befits its name along with an elegance that reveals its owners’ taste and designer’s talents, the apartment sleeps 6 within the top 2 floors of the property reached by stairs. Crowned with a furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace * all of your own enjoying exceptional vistas across the surrounding terracotta rooftops to some of Venice’s most iconic landmarks including the domes of Salute and St. Mark’s Campanile, Ca’ Della Luce offers the convenience and comfort of Wi-Fi and air-conditioning throughout while an interplay of choice linens and velvet, Farrow & Ball wallpapers, custom-built furnishings and well-chosen upholstery breathes life into its traditional framework. Following hot on the heels of our popular Ca’ Dell’ Opera, accommodation commences on the 3rd floor and comprises: - A spacious sitting/dining room dressed in a cool and classic palette of muted neutrals brightened by splashes of teal and Tiffany blue against a backdrop of white painted beams and burnished wooden parquet. - A small up-to-date and well-equipped kitchen to the side with dappled grey marble work surfaces and Miele oven. - Two delightful bedrooms – the master in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Lotus’ Damask print with double bed and a twin decked out in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Tessella’ with 2 singles. - A contemporary-style bathroom decorated entirely in Italian mosaic with bathtub and hand held shower. Stairs rising to the 4th floor: - A characterful studio doubling up as an additional 3rd bedroom with double bed, its own en-suite bathroom with shower (again in mosaic), plus steps giving rise to the… Furnished ‘altana’ roof terrace * – a magical place for whiling away your downtime and soaking up the atmosphere of this most special of towns. Important: please note that the apartment only accepts fully supervised children over 6 years of age or under 1 year (non-walking babies) because of the internal stairs, ‘altana’ rooftop terrace. OUR COMMENT A comfortable and light-filled beacon of style with a fabulous ‘altana’ in San Samuele. Rubbing shoulders with some of the city’s most coveted residential addresses and ideally placed for the first time or regular visitor to Venice who appreciates peaceful surroundings yet who’d like to stay close to many of Venice’s star attractions. Within a stone’s throw of the Palazzo Grassi Museum of Modern Art, and within moments of several osterie, the outdoor cafes of Campo Santo Stefano, a wine shop, a local grocery/delicatessen, plus a well-stocked Punto supermarket just a little further on. Seconds to the area’s antique shops and galleries including that of interior designer Chiarastella Cattana - a discreetly sophisticated showroom of fine and distinctively woven textiles and furnishings and, for scent-lovers, the Venice outlet of the famous Florentine ‘Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’ - one of the oldest pharmacies in the world and one time fragrance maker to Catherine de’ Medici. Also close to two vaporetto (water bus) stops - San Samuele and Sant’ Angelo - for foot-friendly exploration of the city, and moments to the local ‘traghetto’ at Garzoni which, during operating times, ferries passengers by gondola across the Grand Canal to San Toma in the district of San Polo. * Please be aware that the ‘altana’ is only accessible via the studio/3rd bedroom ** Are you a part of a larger group who’d like to stay close together but in separate apartments? An ancient canal-side palace within minutes of St. Mark’s Square. Hidden away on its landside within the secret courtyard ‘Corte Rubbi’, on the Castello/San Marco border, this once forgotten building has been magically transformed by restorers with vision and interior design savoir-faire. Easy to find (when you know the way!) from the shop-lined Campo San Bartolomeo and Salizada San Lio on one of Venice’s canal-encircled ‘islands within an island’, these imaginatively furnished apartments offer Wi-Fi and a communal laundry room and are spread across 4 floors with all upper floors reached by stairs. Highly contemporary in style, air-conditioned** throughout and ranging from a charming studio for 4 to a fabulous penthouse with rooftop terrace, Corte Rubbi’s 10 apartments sleep up to 42 guests if booked exclusively and include: Corte Rubbi 10 - sleeping 6 - on the 3rd Floor reached by stairs .Upon previous request we can organize a porter service with a surcharge. A few steps away from the 18th-century church of Santa Maria Della Fava and close to a host of famous sights and attractions including the atmospheric Venetian time-capsule that is the Querini Stampalia, the fabulous Palazzo Grimani just off Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the Church of San Zaccaria with its crypt and wonderful Bellini altarpiece, and Vivaldi’s La Pietà on the sunny Riva degli Schiavoni waterfront… … A short stroll towards a very sedate pace of life lived out amongst the tranquil calles, canals and green spaces of Castello with its laid-back and very genuine neighbourhood vibe… … Or rise with the lark to embrace the atmosphere of St. Mark’s Square (‘the Piazza’) gloriously near-empty before its visitors arrive… or visit at night when the orchestras of Quadri and Florian play*, the bells of the Campanile (bell tower) toll, the marble of the Doge’s Palace glows, and the mosaics of the Basilica shimmer in the darkness… Close to a host of shops, restaurants and bars including the much-lauded Alle Testiere, the upmarket Bistrot de Venise and Alle Corone of the nearby Hotel Reali, the charming Osteria Al Portego (delicious cicheti!) and Osteria Ae Sconte, plus Ristorante Santa Maria Formosa with its tables on the campo. Also within easy reach of 4 well-stocked supermarkets – a Despar at Calle al Ponte de la Guerra, a COOP at Salizada San Lio, and a COOP and a Despar on the Riva del Carbon (near the Rialto Bridge), along with a ‘Vino Sfuso’ (wine on tap) shop on Calle del Mondo Novo and a greengrocer’s stand at Campo Santa Maria Formosa.
